Ralph C Sickler Jr. formerly of Aurora, IL passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022 at the age of 85. He was born on September 10, 1936 in Aurora to Ralph and Emily (Stillwell) Sickler Sr. When you think of Ralph you think of Aurora, Allsteel, sports, and especially family. Ralph spent most of his life active in the Aurora community. He was a member of the Tiger Club, Lucky 50 Club, and Eastside Social Club. Ralph began his career at Allsteel in 1954 as a punch press operator making $1.02 per hour. He spent the next 43 years working as hard as possible and retired in 1997 as a plant manager. After his retirement, Ralph and his beautiful wife Sara spent their time between their home in Sun City, AZ and vacation home at Pioneer Park in Lake Delton, WI. Throughout his life Ralph loved sports. He was a bowler and golfer. He enjoyed volunteering at golf tournaments and watching high school basketball, the Chicago Bears, and Arizona Cardinals football teams. Most of all Ralph was devoted to the Chicago Cubs. He was over the moon when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. Much of Ralph’s time in Arizona was spent at every Spring Training game he could attend. Over the years Ralph also was an enthusiastic sports memorabilia collector, but even more his favorite pastimes were coaching his children and grandchildren and watching them play the sports they loved. In his final years, Ralph spent his time in Ohio doting over his children, grandchildren, and loyal pets and could be found mowing the lawn on his Grasshopper or relaxing in his favorite chair watching sports. Ralph was the pillar of his family and was blessed with a large loving one. He is survived by his adoring children Guy Sickler, Ralph (Blake) Sickler, Ronnie (Dawn) Sickler, and Megan (Chris Sourlis) Day. Ralph was a beloved grandfather of 17 to Michael (Celeste), Chad (Leslie), Michele, Breanne (Bill), Holly (Daniel), Dakota, Aly, RJ, RC (Jodi), McKenzie (Ben), Christopher (Amanda), Melanie (Jeremy), Dalton, Alessa, Madison, Brittany (Justin), and Austin and great grandfather of 22 to Gavin, Trevor, Devin (Morgan), Cali, KJ, Kallen, Kalel, Ke’Mari, Ma’Kenzie, Haylee, Logan, Gemma, Amilia, Hannah, Dylon, Riley Dawn, Easton, Wyatt, MaryScarlett, Brielle, Riley, and Jayden. He is also survived by his siblings Elaine Nowlin, Kenneth Sickler, and Judith (Mike) Forrest, brother-in-law Edward (Catherine) Spann, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends he considered family. Preceding Ralph in death were his wife Sara; parents; son Ricky Sickler; stepdaughter Theressa “Lynn” Johnston; siblings Catherine (Doran) Huppert, Raymond Sickler, Ronald (Sharon L) Sickler, Arlene Sickler, Marlene Sickler, and Louise Sickler; brothers-in-law Charles Nowlin, Bernace Spann, and James Spann; and sister-in-law Sharon R Sickler. His family will receive guests on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S Broadway, Montgomery, IL. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL. The celebration of Ralph’s life will then continue at Tiger Athletic Club 1040 Sixth Avenue, Aurora, IL.
