Richard H. Bonifas "Dick"

Richard H. “Dick” Bonifas, 87, of Aurora passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 22, 2018. He was born in Roseland, Nebraska on September 21, 1930 the son of Lawrence and Lillian (Koos) Bonifas. Dick proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of St Joseph Catholic Church and Annunciation Catholic Church where he ushered for many years. He was also a member of the Aurora Turners Club, Phoenix Club and The Luxenberg Club. Dick was a talented lifelong carpenter and an avid hunter. Above all things in life, time spent with family was his greatest joy.

He is survived by his wife of 64 ½ years, Arlene (Diehl) Bonifas, children; Rick (Danielle) Bonifas and their children, David, Jonathan, Karas (DJ), Josiah and Hannah; Pam Graver and her son Justin (Jamie); Tom (Patti) Bonifas and their children, Tommy, Chris (Lyndsie) Jeff and Joe; Gary (Jami) Bonifas and their children Nate, Zac, Jess (Siah) and Josh; and Amy (Steve) Tuma and their children, Elly and Henry. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren and siblings, Sr. Alverda Bonifas, Harry (Rita) Bonifas and Larry (Rhonda) Bonifas. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to family friend Rich Fichtel and the wonderful staff of Compassionate Care Hospice.

Family will be receiving guests on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538.  Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 27th  at 10:30 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church 1820 Church Rd. Aurora, IL.  Prayers at the funeral home will begin at 9:45 AM.  Interment will follow at Marywood Cemetery, Aurora, IL.
