Robert Dale Somers

The family of Robert Dale Somers, of Montgomery Illinois, is saddened to announce his passing on September 25, 2021 at the age of 89.

Dale was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Loretta; his daughter, Kyle Bellis; and his parents Bobbie and Walter Somers.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jeff Somers(Cheryl), Dana Barnes (Steve) and Sara Crawley (Chuck); along with his grandchildren, Lauren, Jenai, Jessica, Joe, Matt, Claire, Jordan, Jake, Connor, Brandon, Liam and Aidan; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanne Donovan (Tom); sister-in-law, Ruth Opoka; and many nieces and nephews.

Dale was born on November 25, 1931 in Chicago, graduated from Lewis University as a three sport athlete with a degree in business. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He owned a successful Insurance Company for over three decades.

Dale and Loretta enjoyed 22 wonderful years as residents of Sullivan, Illinois after his retirement. His amazing life will forever be cherished.

Family will be receiving guests from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations under Robert’s name may be made out to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
