Seferino “Chubby” Alonzo Jr., age 61, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 in Aurora, Illinois. He was born in Mission, Texas on August 23, 1956, the son of Zeferino and Julia (Uvalle) Alonzo. He was currently employed with Johnson Controls in Geneva, IL and had 28 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime active member of San Pablo Church in Aurora. Chubby was an animal lover and adored his pets, he enjoyed bonfires and s’mores with the grandkids and he was an avid boxer. He boxed with CYO and AAU Divisions. He will always be remembered for his phrases that he often repeated; “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, watch out Mohammad (Ali) cause here comes Chubby.” “My face is so pretty, you don’t see a scar which proves I am the king of the ring by far.” He will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carmen (Enriquez) Alonzo; 4 sons, Seferino Alonzo III, Javier (Melinda) Alonzo, Anthony (Gabriela) Alonzo, and Daniel Alonzo; 7 grandchildren, Sabrina, Fabian, Jessica, Ashley, Mya, Micayla and Amelia; siblings, Julia (Andres) Chavez, Maggie Felix, Pablo Alonzo, Tim Alonzo, Beatrice Alonzo, Martha (Navor) Anicacio; mother-in-law, Isabel Lopez; sisters-in-law, Gloria Alarcon and Irma (Eliseo Trillo) Enriquez; brothers-in-law, Bobbie Enriquez and Rudy (Yolanda) Ortega; many nieces and nephews; and very dear friend Alan Perez.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 great-grandsons, Edwin Jr., and Isaac Alonzo; 1 brother-in-law, Alejandro E. Lopez; and 2 nephews, Edwardo Lopez and Alex Alarcon.
Family will receive guests on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL 60538. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at San Pablo Church, 555 E. Benton St., Aurora, IL. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Aurora, IL.
