Sharon Kay Haynes, 71, of Aurora, passed away March 26th, 2021 in her home. She was born March 7th, 1950, in Galesburg, IL, daughter of Wallace and Betty Ames. Sharon was a longtime employee at Honeywell (formerly System Sensor) where she enjoyed the company of her co-workers immensely before retiring. She was one of the core members of Steel Crazy, a steel drum band that became a much-loved fixture in the area, and a band that formed lifelong friendships. Sharon loved a beautiful beach and an ocean view, especially if she could enjoy it with her dear friends. She enjoyed the camaraderie of a lively game night and also volunteered as an usher at Aurora’s Paramount Theater during her retirement years. Sharon was a doting grandmother (“Nana”) who shared with her grandkids her love of music performance and kindness for animals, including her two cats, Pudgie and Piper. Sharon is survived by 1 son, Brett; 1 daughter, Tracy (Justin); 1 sister, Susan (Lance); 3 grandchildren, Maisy, Alfred, and Oswyn. She leaves behind a wealth of close friends, many who have been an integral part of her life for decades. Sharon was a proud aunt to her nieces and nephews, Jocelyn, Amy, and Peter who also survive her. She is preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Stephen. Per Sharon’s wishes, she will be cremated with a private celebration of her life.
