Sharon (Sheri) Peterson of Aurora, Illinois passed away on Monday October 25, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Sharon was born July 27, 1943, in Woodstock, Illinois to Dorothy and Clarence Ganshert. In 1950 her family moved to Rockford, Illinois, where she attended schools and graduated from Rockford East High School in 1961. Following high school, Sharon attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, until her marriage to James (Pete) A. Peterson on November 24, 1963, in Rockford. She is survived by her husband, her daughter Tracy Essling of Aurora, Illinois and grandchildren Cody Essling (Mindy Chan) of Naperville, Illinois and Mackenzie Essling (Jennifer Pagan) of Oswego, Illinois; daughter Cari (Tim) Hush of Racine, Wisconsin and grandchildren Brandyn Kerscher (Nicole Dodge) of Madison, Wisconsin and Trevyr Kerscher (Caitlyn Owens) of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Christopher (Stephanie) Hush of Union Grove Wisconsin and great-grandchildren Bentley Kerscher and Aubree Meisner . Sister Patricia Cameron of Milton, Wisconsin and brother David (Sharon) Ganshert of Machesney Park, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Steven Cameron. Employed on June 28, 1978, as an Administrative Assistant for the Oswego Public Library, she retired after 23 years. Sheri also designed and sewed wedding dresses for brides and wedding attendants, including both daughters. One of her wedding dresses included over 10,000 sequins and pearls all sewn on by hand. Sheri enjoyed all types of sewing and crafts, rubber stamping, and gardening. With love and joy, she made wonderful scrapbooks for each of her grandchildren. Genealogy was a special interest, and she belonged to several genealogy societies over the years. But most of all, Sheri enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Family will be receiving guests Thursday October 28, 2021 from 10am until time of service at 12pm at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, Illinois. Burial will take place at Pearce Cemetery in Oswego. Sharon and her family are very grateful to Dr. Atif Fakhruddin, a Nephrology Specialist, for his compassion and care during the last few months and have requested that in lieu of flowers, any memorials sent to the family be made to Dr. Fakhruddin’s free clinic, ICN SHIFA Clinic in Naperville, Illinois.
