Shirley May Miller

Shirley May Miller, 97, of Yorkville, formerly of Oswego passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Rush Copley Medical Center. She was born August 7, 1924 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Charles and Cecilia Pennington. She was a 1942 graduate of East Aurora High School. Shirley was also a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Shirley was united in marriage to Clyde Miller on February 18, 1950 at St. Mary Rectory and they spent 62 years together until his death in 2012. She was an accomplished seamstress, she made many articles of clothing and did many alterations for family and others. She loved to play the card game Canasta and attended many card parties back in the day. She also baked wonderful Christmas cookies, a tradition her daughters try to copy.

She is survived by her four children; Pamela (Dale) Page of Yorkville, Judith (Maurice) Ormiston of Newark, Janette Kossaris of Ottawa and Jeffrey Miller of North Aurora. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jeremy (Lindsey Watson) Page, Brian (Elaine Kimbrell) Page, Jessica (Levi) Gotte, Brandi (Jose) Velez, Rachel Miller, Alexander Miller and Courtney (Stephen Hapke) Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Weston and Miller Page, Eleanor and Amelia Page and Adeline Gotte; sister Elaine Nichols; brother, Jack Pennington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde; brother, Robert Pennington and sister, Dorothy Burton.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Rush Copley for the care and compassion that was shown to her.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543. A private burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
