Thomas R. Baroni

Thomas R. Baroni, 77, of Montgomery, IL formerly of Chicago, IL passed away on October 8, 2020. He was born on December 28, 1942 in Chicago, IL the son of Reno and Elizabeth Baroni. Tom proudly served his country with the USMC from 1963-1967. He later joined the U.S. Navy and was a pilot during Vietnam. He obtained both a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in criminal justice from Lewis University. He retired from the Chicago Police Department after 30 years of dedicated service. He then went on to work for the Cook County Sherriff Department. Tom was a firearms and self-defense instructor while with both the CPD and Cook County. He loved coming home after a hard days work to his beloved wife, their pets and a well maintained home.  

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patricia (Gomez), brothers, James (the late Florence) and Michael (Rosemary) Baroni; nieces, Donna, Dawn, Sabina and nephew Peter. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Nicholas Baroni.

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 9:00 AM -12:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Burial will follow at 1:30 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.  Due to current restrictions, please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
