Thomas E. Martin, 46, of Leander, TX formerly of Sugar Grove, IL passed away surrounded by his family on May 2, 2020 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on May 31, 1973 in Aurora, IL the son of Carroll and Ellen Kay (Drebenstedt) Martin. Tom graduated from Kaneland High School in the class of 1991. He was a dedicated employee of IBM for over 20 years in both Illinois and Texas. He spent a lot of time bowling and playing softball and through the years built many friendships. He loved fishing and time spent with family. He was a devoted husband, son and brother, a dedicated father to his twin girls and a steadfast friend to many. Tom is best described as a hardworking, selfless man who put everyone else before himself. He always had a joke and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed terribly by his family and friends but his legacy will live on in each of the lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife Dawn (Armbruster); twin daughters, Abigail and Alyssa; parents, Carroll and Kay Martin, brother, John Martin, In-Laws, Diana Fry, Lynn Armbruster, Michele (Robert) Fetzer, Brian Stacy and Kimberly (Dave) Postma. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carroll and Gertrude Martin, maternal grandparents, William and Mary Drebenstedt and father-in-law Richard Fry.
Due to social distancing requirements in place with the COVID-19 Pandemic, a drive through viewing will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. People are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times and follow direction in the funeral home parking lot. A private funeral will follow and burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, IL. Pallbearers will be John Martin, Brent Johnson, Erik Strobert, Brian Stacy, Greg Rink, Josh Orin and Derek Wagner. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his name to the family for a fund that will be established for his daughters.
