Travis Lawkis

Travis A. Lawkis, 25, of Lake Villa, formerly of Aurora passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2017. He was born on June 23, 1992 in Chicago, IL the son of Terry and Sally (Nielsen) Lawkis. He attended East Aurora High School, participated in ROTC for 4 years and graduated in 2010. Upon graduation he went to work at Auto Villa in McHenry and worked there until his passing. It was there that his cousin and owner Steve Nielsen took him under his wing. The two became very close and Steve was a mentor and dear friend to him. Travis knew how to have fun. He enjoyed boating, fishing, the outdoors and tinkering with just about anything. Above all things, he loved to help others and his generous and loving spirit will continue to live on.He is survived by his mother Sally Lawkis; sister, Jessica Ramirez; brother, Nick (Kim) Lawkis; maternal grandmother, Marjorie Nielsen; girlfriend, Lorena Gomez; aunts and uncles, Scott (Teresa) Nielsen, Sue (Lee) Larson, Cindy Nielsen Vorres,  Dr. Janet (Dr. Mike) Hoffman, and Paul (Geri) Lawkis. He is also survived by many cousins and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Terry Lawkis, maternal grandfather Arthur Nielsen and paternal grandparents Jeannette and Peter Lawkis.

Family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for a memorial that will be established.
