Vassiliki G. Niforos

Vassiliki G. Niforos, 96, of Wheeling, IL and formerly of Oswego, IL passed away on May 25, 2023. She was born on April 10, 1927 on the island of Kalamos, Leukada, Greece, the daughter of Parthenia and Father George Skarogiannis. In 1954, she married Dimitrios Niforos in Montreal, Quebec where they had six children before emigrating to Chicago, IL in 1969.

Vassiliki is survived by her children, Helen Niforos, Theodore (Maria) Niforos, Susan Niforos Girard, Paulina Wheaton, and her daughter-in-law, Tamara Niforos. She was the proud yiayia of George (Sara) Bouras, Dimitri and George Niforos, Violette (Angel) and Nolan Girard, Anastasia and Camaron Niforos, and George and Blaize (Ashlyn) Wheaton; and great grandmother to Theo, Nikolas, and Penelope. She was a dear sister, aunt, cousin, godmother, and friend of many from the USA, Canada, New Zealand, and her beloved island of Kalamos. She will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dimitrios Niforos and her beloved sons, George and Evangelos “Van” Niforos.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations under Vassiliki’s name be made out to Helen Niforos, who will distribute the donations between the Greek American Rehabilitation & Care Centre and St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church.

Family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 5th Ave, Aurora, IL 60504 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM also at St. Athanasios. Interment will immediately follow out at Elmwood Cemetery, 2905 Thatcher Ave, River Grove, IL 60171.
