Vester “Gene” Housman, 81, of Montgomery, IL passed away on September 25, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 17, 1937 in Joiner, Arkansas the son of Sylvester and Alice (Toye) Housman. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and supported fellow veterans and veteran organizations throughout his life. Gene retired from Western Electric after many years of dedicated service. After retiring he went on to start Housman Electric. He will always be remembered for his hard work ethic and dedication to his profession. He had a passion for old classic cars and loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his son, Brian Tomes, step-daughters Jeannie (Will) Wilson and Jayne (Jay) Probst, grandchildren, Corrine (Phill) Besseck, Kristin Propst, Jayson (Sandy) Probst, Brenton (Loreen) Wilson, Bobby Michels, Nikki (Breck) Bryant and Madison Tomes, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Barbara (Andy) Hall and brother Ronnie Housman
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bette Jean Housman, step- daughter Darlene “Dee Dee”Colley, great-grandson Brenton Wilson, Jr. and six siblings.
Family will be receiving guests on Friday, September 28th from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, IL.
