Violet M. Svob
August 10, 1923 ~ October 15, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years OldViolet M. Svob, 94, of Oswego passed away on October 15, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She left this world to join her beloved husband John and son John, Jr. in heaven.
Violet was born in Chicago, IL on August 10, 1923 to Frank and Olga Basich. The oldest of six children, she helped raise the youngest who were triplet boys. Since only Croatian was spoken in her home, Violet didn’t learn to speak English until she entered first grade. Violet was a force to be reckoned with, matched only by how deeply she loved you. She was very active at St. Anne Catholic Church, where she was one of the original members. From the Christmas Bazaar, to the ladies card party, to running Brier Hall, and preparing dishes for a parishioners funeral luncheon, Violet loved being active in her church community. She was also a den mother and volunteered at Hillside Nursing Home, where her oldest son Johnnie went to live after being cared for at home for 33 years. Most of all she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a dear faithful friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Bob) Panozzo, Michael (Maureen) Svob, and Jeanne Svob, and her grandchildren, Nathan, Allyssa and Colleen Svob. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, son John Jr., and 5 siblings.
