Sergio Rivas

Sergio Rivas, 63, of Montgomery, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2017. He was born on March 22, 1953 in Santiago, Chile the son of Carlos and Rebeca (Martinez) Rivas. Sergio proudly served his country with the Chilean Military. He was a loving father and grandfather and loved his family in Chile dearly. It was important to him that he maintained a close bond with his family in Chile. He retired from Siemens Electric after 22 years of dedicated service. He had a passion for tinkering with different things, he was a mechanic by trade and loved to garden. Sergio always put others before himself. His humor, jolly demeanor, and love for life was infectious. He will be deeply missed by all.  

He is survived by his wife, Marta Rivas; children, Sandra Rivas, Rebeca (Carlos) Aguilera, Mauricio Rivas and Sergio (Lorena) Rivas, Jr.; grandchildren, Daniel, Edgar, Jose Enrique, Angel, Christopher, Aaron, Isabella, Arianna and Alessia; and great-grandchildren, Izaiah and Elijah. He is also survived by his 5 brothers, 5 sisters, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs Lou and Chiquito. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ruben.

Family will be receiving guests on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. Interment will be private.
