Danial "Dan" Haligas
December 12, 1954 ~ November 16, 2017 (age 62) 62 Years OldDanial “Dan” Haligas, 62, of Harvard, IL formerly of Aurora, IL passed away on November 16, 2017. He was born on December 12, 1954 in Elgin, IL the son of Robert and Phyllis (Smith) Haligas. Dan attended Northern Illinois University where he obtained both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. He was currently employed with Neumann Family Services where he was devoted to helping others. He played an integral part in helping the less fortunate and those affected with mental and developmental disabilities. Dan was a founding member of the band Stumpwater and was passionate about music. He composed his own music and was an accomplished guitar player. He loved cooking and fishing but above all things he was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend and was fully committed to all.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jaki (Curry); children, Sarah (Israel) Mejia, Stephanie (Eric) Rosser, Patti (James) Staffeldt and Mike (Trish) Haligas, and 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Tim Haligas; aunt Virginia (Wilmer) Blietz and uncle William (Betty) Haligas. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL . A reception will follow with light refreshments.
